39th Annual Meeting

The 39th ESARDA symposium on Safeguards and Nuclear Non-Proliferation, will be held at the Meliá Düsseldorf, in Düsseldorf, Germany from 16-18 May, 2017. The Symposium will be preceded by meetings of the ESARDA Steering Committee and the Working Groups at the Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany on Monday 15 May 2017.

The symposium is an opportunity for research organisations, safeguards authorities and nuclear plant operators to exchange information on new aspects of international safeguards and non-proliferation, as well as recent developments in nuclear safeguards and non-proliferation related research activities and their implications for the safeguards community.

Social Programme

Welcome Reception

A welcome reception will be arranged for all symposiums participants on Monday, 15th May 2017 in “Zum Schlüssel”, a craft brewery in the heart of Düsseldorf’s historical city center. "Schlüssel Alt" is one of only four originally in-house brewed Alt-beers. No visit to Düsseldorf is complete without having seen and witnessed this institution.

You will experience the flair of the Rhenish metropolis and its attractions between “Altstadt” und “Medien Hafen” on a magnificent panoramic dinner cruise on Wednesday, 17th May 2017. Enjoy a festive atmosphere including a specialty buffet, drinks and music against the backdrop of Düsseldorf’s panorama as we float along the numerous attractions along the banks of the river Rhine.

Conference Venue

Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf is the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, and a vibrating modern city full of cultural, architectural and culinary highlights as well as a great place for shopping experiences. Social centre of Düsseldorf is the famous “Altstadt” – its oldest houses date back to the foundation of the city in 1288. There are many other attractions such as the river Rhine promenade, the court garden or the Japanese village close by the old city which can be explored easily.
