Scientific Meetings
Internal Meetings
Internal Meetings are organised every two years. They generally last a week and include regular meetings of the ESARDA Working Groups and plenary sessions where specific subjects of common interest to all members are presented and discussed. They are internal, i.e. their attendance is restricted to the ESARDA Members. However, during the last few meetings the plenary sessions took the shape of fully-fledged Seminars or Workshops, and many external people were invited to attend them. This trend will be further encouraged.
Topical Meetings
When appropriate, ESARDA organises - by itself, or in collaboration with other Organisations - specialised meetings on topics important in safeguards. Often, these meetings were organised in connection with the Internal Meeting of the Association.
Topical meetings - which take the form of Seminars or Workshops - may convene between 30 and 120 people, according to the subject treated. They generally last 3-4 days. Several working formulas have been used, such as: i) presentations and discussions in plenary sessions only, ii) presentations and discussions in separate Working Groups, iii) mixture of the above.
